After three days of intense competition, the 2016 Tops Cup Coffee roasting Masters Competition in Haikou ended in Shimei Bay. Haikou contestant Zhou Weiguang, Haikou contestant Chen Xiaode and Shenzhen contestant Li Chenlei won one to three places respectively. Gao Fangbiao, a contestant from Xinglong overseas Chinese Farm Coffee Factory, won the best taste award for the highest score in the cup test. This is the first time that Wanning held an international coffee competition, with 15 contestants from 2 countries and 6 provinces participating in the competition.

It is understood that the 2016 Toper Cup Coffee roasting Masters will be held in China from April to November, with 12 division competitions and a finals expected to be held. The division champion will represent the national finals in the division, and the national finals champion will participate in the world finals to compete with players from all over the world for the title of coffee roaster world champion.

The competition attracted 15 baristas from Hainan, Yunnan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Jiangsu and Malaysia. Among them, 4 are coffee tasters certified by the American Fine Coffee Association, 3 are Robusta coffee tasting experts, 3 are Arabica coffee tasting experts, and 4 are baking masters.
During the three-day schedule, the contestants competed in batches, roasting coffee beans on the first day, cup testing on the second day, and cup testing on the 25th for the beans roasted on the second day.

The competition received full support from colleagues at home and abroad, and five celebrities from the coffee industry were invited to serve as judges of the competition. The total score of the contestants is scored according to the cup test score of the judges and the closeness of the implementation of the baking schedule, and ranked according to the total score.
Cai Zhiyu, the main judge of this competition, certified coffee quality appraiser of international coffee quality organization and certified lecturer of American Fine Coffee Association, said that coffee roasting has its most basic needs. Our evaluation of the quality of a baker has a lot to do with experience. The more times he can bake, the more beans he can bake, and the more experience he has, the better the competition will be able to master. Then there is the presentation of flavor, because in baking, there is such a baking that is very shallow to very deep, and there is room for it to be appreciated at different baking levels. we will judge whether he is at his best according to the degree of baking chosen by the player and the flavor presented at this level.
Chen Peng, a judge, Robusta and Arabica coffee tasting expert and founder of Hainan Wanning Xinglong Sunshine Coffee Studio, said that baristas pay attention to repeatability because baristas are very particular about their operation. The same bag of coffee beans, baked by different baristas, will have different effects.
