Philippine Coffee prices rise

Recently, the head of the Philippine Coffee Commission said that due to the expected decline in production and increased import demand, the price of coffee in the Philippines is likely to rise. The price of locally produced instant coffee is expected to increase by 5% and that of non-instant coffee by 15%.

Philippine coffee production peaked at 30, 000 tons, but annual demand was 100000 tons. It is a traditional coffee importer, and coffee production is expected to be 26000 tons this year, down 15.4%. The official also expressed concern about the decline in global coffee production, saying it would drop by 32 million bags (60 kg each) by 2020. 70% of the coffee in the Philippines comes from Mindanao. Currently, the price of raw coffee beans is 95,110 pesos (US $2.10-2.40) / kg, the price of coffee powder is 300,350 pesos (US $6.70-7.8) / kg, and the price of imported professional brand coffee powder is 4000 pesos (about US $89) / kg.
