Cafe Design Appreciation: Beijing ACE Cafe Industrial Style Cafe

ACE Cafe is a famous London ritual B-themed restaurant, which is its first branch in China, transformed from the original 751 Railway Station in Beijing's 798 Art District. In addition to the heavy metal theme, the designer hopes to revive cold buildings through digital and mechanical engineering. Give space breathing atmosphere and mechanical charm. The design maintains the main structure and industrial style of 751 station as much as possible. The north side of the building is renovated with retractable glass windows, using the same segmentation method as ACE London. On the west side of the building, taking into account the functional needs of cars, a deformed metal facade controlled by the bar is designed and created, which can be opened or closed as needed. When it opens, the flat metal facade becomes a complex metal structure, like an abstract blooming metal flower, symbolizing punk and RenewB culture. The same idea is applied to the back wall of the indoor bar, where the flat metal wall gradually rises and opens, blooms and returns to its original state, like a vivid life that can breathe. These deformations are realized by the rear gears. Its inspiration comes from the old steam locomotive near the site. At the same time, it reflects the understanding of punk culture.

Based on the respect and protection of the existing buildings, the design uses containers on the west side of the station and assembles the whole structure. A compound area of coffee shop and car repair area is formed on the first floor, and the platform and office are located on the second floor. The design matches the overall style of the original station.
