Furniture chain giant IKEA will open a pop-up coffee shop on Queen St. W. in downtown Toronto. From June 16 to June 27, citizens do not have to go to Ikea stores in the suburbs to eat Swedish meatballs and frozen yogurt.
IKEA Play Cafe, an Ikea pop-up cafe, will open at 336 Queen's West Street on Friday, according to the Toronto Star. The pop-up shop covers an area of 8000 square feet and combines shopping, entertainment and food.
Unlike ordinary coffee shops that sell lattes, croissants and sandwiches, Ikea coffee shops sell frozen yogurt and Swedish meatballs, which can be served with different sauces, waffles, fried onions, French fries, kimchi or cookies.
Ikea has stores in Vaughan, Yitobi Valley and North York, but not in downtown Toronto. Last year, Ikea opened a pop-up coffee shop on King St. W., downtown, with the theme "healthy, fun and affordable food".
This year's Ikea flash store also offers 50 household items, such as pillows, artificial plants, teacups and chopping boards. There are also tic-tac-toe and pinball games in the store. The pop-up shop is open from 11:00 to 8pm from Monday to Saturday and from 10:00 to 6pm on Sunday.
