The results of the 2017 online auction of Guardian Coffee announced that the online auction of "Fine Coffee of Guatemala (Cup of Excellence)" was held on June 15, 2017. The auction price was won by Acatenango Finca El Parajax Coffee Manor in Chimaltenango province, selling 330.69 pounds of pacamara coffee totaling US $19,180 at US $58 / lb.
Evelio Alvarado, general manager of the Guanguo Coffee Association (Anacafe), said 28 coffee farms took part in the auction this year. The first Finca El Parajax Coffee Manor sold at $58 per pound, higher than the first Finca Los Jutes Coffee Manor last year at $53.10 / lb. Arturo Aquirre, owner of El Injerto Coffee Farm, said that he has participated in the competition for 13 years and won the first prize in 9 years.
It is also on the list this year. El Injerto won US $45.10 per pound at a website auction in 2013, the record for the best price for a coffee farm on the Central American website at the time.
