When it comes to the origin of coffee, he laughs that it all stems from a "family war." In order to prove to his mother, who is proficient in food and beverage in various countries, that he also has professional abilities. At the age of 19, he interrupted his studies and went to Shanghai to study alone. After returning to Taiwan, he traveled around the island for a week to spread the smell of coffee in various parts of the countryside, gaining the title of "coffee ronin." he also set up a cafe on campus and served as a lecturer to continue to convey the philosophy of life through coffee.

Family disputes stir up determination

Yao Shunde, who runs a restaurant at home, has also developed a strong interest in catering since he was a child. In high school, he was already the second chef in the restaurant, while his mother was a chef who was proficient in Chinese food, western food and foreign cuisine. At a dinner of the National Dental Association, some dignitaries such as the secretary general of the presidential palace attended. Yao Shunde was cooking that day, but he was scolded by his mother for not being hot enough for steak. After a big quarrel between the two, he vowed that "one day he would be better than his mother." after an encounter in a coffee shop, he made up his mind to develop a coffee profession.

College drop-out coffee

Yao Shunde graduated from the drama department of Huagang Art School, majoring in actor and stage design, dropped out of the Chinese martial arts department of a university, and devoted himself to coffee. He once served as the deputy manager of Otu brunch and the manager of the research office of the American Brand. He served as SOP formulation, annual policy planning and product development and design, as well as the planning director of Yang Yang Catering Co., Ltd. Assist in coffee teaching, engineering maintenance, activity planning, curriculum development and catering consultant.

Went to Shanghai alone at the age of 19.

At the age of 19, he went to Shanghai alone for 2 years, serving as the chief operating officer of Shanghai Misterger Catering Company, responsible for staff education and training, operating status, annual policy and product development. After returning to Taiwan, he rode a motorcycle around the island and carried coffee utensils. On the back of the car, "Coffee ronin" was written on the tent. He visited a small town to send love. He also got to know coffee shops all over Taiwan and exchanged views with each other. Let him taste the strong human feelings from the coffee.

With a simple bag and coffee utensils, Yao Shunde embarked on a journey around the island, never forgetting to send love to the countryside along the way.

Get 15 international coffee certificates

In just a few years, Yao Shunde has accumulated 15 international coffee licenses, including roasters, baristas and gold cup brewers of the European boutique coffee association, as well as certified examiners authorized by the association and coffee dispensers and international lecturers of the British City Business Association. During this period, he also served as a contract lecturer in the public sector and a brewing technical officer in private and corporate coffee lectures. after his titles became more and more diverse, he began to admit that he did not study well when he was young, and his regret of not completing his studies became more and more intense.

Continue to study

After that, he applied for the second skill of the Leisure Management Department of Yuda University of Science and Technology. During his study, he served not only as a course consulting committee of the college, but also as an instructor at the Coffee Art Society, and planned to set up a "Sanshuiyuan" campus cafe. In June this year, he was invited to Penghu Prison to teach strangers how to make coffee. This summer vacation, he is even more prepared to work with members of the coffee shop to lead disadvantaged children to challenge cycling around the island and experience the beauty of Taiwan.

Yao Shunde said, "because I know that young people of this generation are very hard, I hope to create more space for young people to play." he thanked the dribs and drabs along the way and the unique life experience that made him who he is now. The hope now can give back what he has learned to society and bring a positive impact on more people.
