Giotto's Past and Present (ECM Giotto and Rocket Giotto)
The mention of Giotto does not seem to be clear to many people in China, but when it comes to GLY (shuttle), many friends are familiar with it, and many enthusiasts are still using shuttle, which was very popular in the last two years. In fact, Giotto and shuttle are still related by blood.
The story began in 1995, when Ennio Berti was an engineer in a coffee machine manufacturer of a well-known Italian brand. This year, he resigned as an engineer. He believes that espresso has entered thousands of households, the era of ordinary people's homes has come, and he encourages to make household espresso machines that meet commercial standards. Eventually he and Frederich Berenbruch set up their own company, Espresso Company Milano (Milan Italian Coffee), which will be known as ECM.
ECM revolutionized the coffee industry, especially home coffee, by making ECM Giotto in the 1990s, a classic home coffee machine with a Faema E61 head. Her appearance, function and even configuration are used for reference by many similar models later.
In 2007, due to a shift in strategic focus, ECM wanted to focus on the manufacture of professional commercial models, so it decided to stop making Giotto models. The production rights of Giotto were finally bought by New Zealander Jeff Kennedy, allowing this classic coffee machine to be reborn. Jeff Kennedy teamed up with Frederich Berenbruch's son Daniele to set up a new company, Rocket Espresso Milano, which still uses the original production line, continues to produce Giotto, and makes the derivative series cellini. In order to better improve the level of coffee production, Rocket Giotto has comprehensively improved the performance of Giotto on the basis of the original ECM Giotto technology. The highest configuration of Evoluzion version is equipped with fluid rotary pump, double meter, water tank and automatic water supply.
As for what kind of agreement does the Chinese version of Giotto,GLY Shuttle have with ECM or what kind of relationship it has with Rocket Giotto, it may be something commercial, but it is true that the shape of Shuttle is the same as giotto, or similar, only missing a plexiglass baffle.
The former ECM in Milan, Italy, and today's Rocket workshop.
Fully assembled by hand, Giotto is regarded as one of the best delicate and sexy coffee machines.
