The coffee shop, called Dao Dao Coffee, is located in the center of the commercial district of Yintai City in Chengdu. The commercial functions of the whole area include shopping malls, theme shopping streets, office areas and other complex formats. This double-decker coffee shop with an area of about 20 ping, with unique interior decoration, tries to keep quiet in the downtown area and create a place where you can have a rest in the city. In the fight for the effect of the floor, the guidance of light, and the privacy of customers, this concept of mezzanine to the extreme of the commercial space, there are many things to learn from.

Walking into the room, you can obviously feel the space of this coffee shop, deliberately making a visual distinction with the outdoor red lights and greens. the whole store focuses on logs and black, using the height characteristics of the space to attract light. at the same time, the use of ferrous metal punching as the partition of the space, so that customers in the second-order free agents can also feel the movement in the store, but can keep their own place. Architect Zhou Yonggang combines the staircase with the whole wooden frame group, which not only considers the function of the structure, but also gives the entire extended facade a complete sense of visual unity.

We think that design starts from asking questions accurately, and good design is one of the answers to the questions. The question we raised in this project is how to find comfortable positions for guests in different states in a space with an area of only 56 square meters, a floor height of only 5.4 meters and no lighting on the second floor. We try to solve the problem from the variability of small space and the integrity of material and light.

In such a narrow space to carry a variety of behavioral activities to avoid mutual influence, we use psychological space partition instead of physical space partition, and use furniture to meet functional needs to define the area and space. The systematic use of warm-colored wood makes the space filled with natural and comfortable atmosphere, and the two overlapping dark metal punching plates make the line of sight permeate and impenetrable in addition to meeting the function of the railing, abstracting the mixture of sensibility and rationality in the city.

The design of the first floor is relatively open, and many people who are tired of shopping will choose to have afternoon tea on the first floor to chat to relieve fatigue. The external bar is designed for people waiting for companions. sitting at the bar, you can get a panoramic view of the square, and not far away is the entrance to Yintai City Commercial Street. A self-service desk is set up on the second floor, and lemonade and various accessories are provided free of charge, which naturally forms a quiet work space and a small meeting space. There are always some people who like to sit in the corner. We have designed a flyover and properly raised the ground to make the floor height compressed and a stronger sense of encirclement. At the same time, we can also strive for a more comfortable space height for the first floor. When we want to be very quiet, we can also become a person's coffee shop.
