Bogota, Columbia, Sept. 06, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE)-the Colombian Federation of Coffee growers (Colombian Coffee Growers Federation, FNC) recently called for a global solicitation programme to enhance the efficiency of selective coffee harvesting in Colombia.

The project, called "CoffeepickINN", aims to identify innovative proposals from entrepreneurs, research groups and / or companies to enhance the efficiency of Colombia's selective coffee harvest.

The solicitation activity will be supported by Connect Bogota-Region. Connect Bogota-Region is an expert organization that promotes open innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology transfer processes.

Roberto Velez, CEO of FNC, said: "through joint development and innovation, we hope to solve the problem of high labor costs in Colombia's coffee harvest, establish common value between supporters and FNC, in order to increase the profit space of producers."

Participants submitting proposals should note that in order to enhance the efficiency of coffee harvesting, their proposals need to address the different causes of the problem, including technical, agricultural, human and economic factors, in the light of the special circumstances of the Colombian environment.

The solicitation campaign is aimed at groups of entrepreneurs, companies and / or researchers at the national and international levels who have the ideas, talents and technologies needed to address this challenge through scientific or technological innovation.

Research group: a researcher with a master's or doctorate degree in a university.
