It's an estate in La Libertad, Huehuetenango. They are famous for their consistent quality; they have won many awards and their coffee has participated in many barista competitions.
Video from Maria Elena:
In 1956, Dr. Jorge Vides Molina bought a piece of land called La Bolsa; it was given the name because it was located among the mountains. It has its own spring, and two rivers run through the estate, leaving a patio island, where we dry our coffee, mills, farmhouses and schools.
One of our strong features is that we have our own natural spring water, and while we use it, we can also donate Municipio La Mesilla on the Mexican border to us. We support the environment by complying with all the prerequisites for rainforest and CAFE practice certification. There is also hydropower on the farm, and we treat organic matter with earthworms.
In 2002, we won the second place in the National Cup with a score of 94.98.
In 2005, Finca La Bolsa was selected by Anacafe-Huehuetenango as a documentary by German channel DWTV to shoot high-quality coffee production in Guatemala and watch it around the world.
It was acquired in 1958 by Jorge Vides, a distinguished medical expert. It gained fame in the professional community and won second place in the Excellence Cup in the country in 2002.
The farm is certified by the Rainforest Alliance and is equipped with schools, nurseries and well-trained full-time teachers. All temporary and long-term staff can educate their children and leave their children in school or nurseries by donating food. When children go to school or kindergarten for five days in a row, they receive rice, beans and corn every week. We are shocked by the practices imposed by the farmers here, who are the driving force behind the farm, even though they have entered the 1980s!
As a result, schools and preschool classes are full for children who do not work on the farm. Accommodation for permanent and temporary workers and separate facilities for men and women. Various parts of the farm are also reserved areas to promote biodiversity and reduce wind and soil erosion. This small amount of growth grows in the shadow of the Inga tree, which leads to the slow ripening of cherries, thus increasing the complexity of the entire cup outline.
