Founded in 1975, the cooperative joined the Yirgacheffe Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union (YCFCU) in 2002, an umbrella organization to support sustainable coffee supply in cooperatives in the Gedeo ethnic region of Ethiopia. There are currently 893 members in Ethiopia's Yirgacheffe district. Most coffee is produced on 0.25 to 1.5 hectares of family-owned land that is sheltered and interwoven with bananas and other nitrogen-fixing crops.
