Ordering coffee is not an easy task for people who drink less coffee. The dazzling variety of items on Menu makes people dizzy. What's the difference between them? American coffee is America's favorite coffee? What's the difference between American coffee and latte? Let's have a cup of coffee on the front street today and talk about the difference between the two.
The difference between latte and American coffee
Lattes and American coffee are both derivatives of espresso. The biggest difference between the two is that the former adds milk to the espresso, while the latter, ah, adds water to the coffee. Latte is one of the most representative drinks in the milk coffee series, and American coffee is one of the most representative drinks in the black coffee series.
What is espresso?
Espresso can be simply understood as super-strong, ultra-small amount of coffee liquid. Authentic espresso requires the use of a pressurized extraction coffee machine to allow hot water to quickly pass through the ultra-fine ground card powder under sealed pressurization (above 9bar) to extract the rich coffee liquid.
The general espresso is mostly made of blended coffee beans because of its low cost and stable flavor quality. With coffee consumers' further pursuit of flavor, some coffee shops now begin to use single-area coffee beans (single-product coffee beans) espresso, also known as SOE (Single Origin Espresso).
The espresso products of Qianjie Coffee Store all use blended coffee beans, a medium-to-deep roasted "sunflower warm blend coffee beans" made of 30% Ethiopian Yega Snow Red Cherry Coffee beans and 70% Honduran Shirley Coffee beans. The aim is to hope that all espresso products can be stable for a long time, so that every guest can drink coffee of stable quality.
The extraction parameters of espresso need to be adjusted according to different coffee machines and grinders. The previous Street Coffee provides a reference data for the initial extraction of espresso: 40g of liquid coffee was extracted with 20g powder at 1:2 & 9bar pressure for 25-30 seconds. According to the flavor performance of the coffee after the actual extraction, the coffee was adjusted accordingly.
Qianjie Coffee Store uses Q18 bean grinder and lelit brand coffee machine. The daily extraction parameters are about 19.8-20g very fine ground coffee powder to extract 35-38g coffee liquid, about 27-30 seconds. The espresso extracted from warm sun mixed coffee beans shows a strong aroma of fermented wine, sweet and sour berries, smooth vanilla cream and a nutty, caramel finish.
What is a latte?
A latte is simply coffee with milk. The practice is also very simple, add heating to the extracted espresso and whisk the milk with delicate bubbles, and then various styles of flower patterns can be made.
The espresso made from the warm blend of Qianjie Coffee is very sweet when added with hot milk, accompanied by soft fermented wine, soft and silky taste like vanilla cream and a finish of hazelnut chocolate; when cold milk is added, the latte shows soft vanilla cream + whisky smoothness and aroma, soft berry acid and nut caramel finish.
What is American coffee?
American coffee is simply an espresso diluted with water. Add hot water / ice water to the extracted espresso to adjust the coffee concentration, and you can choose the proportion of water added according to your preference.
Qianjie Coffee is produced in daily stores, using warm sun to mix coffee beans to add hot water / ice water mixture at 1:5. The hot American flavor is characterized by vanilla cream, fermented aromas, slightly sour berries and a caramel dark chocolate finish. The flavor of iced American coffee is characterized by whisky, soft berry acid and hazelnut chocolate finish.
Why is American coffee so bitter?
The flavor of American coffee depends on the taste of espresso. The flavor of espresso itself is full-bodied and mellow, and everyone has different perceptions of bitterness, so it is normal if it is not uncomfortable bitterness.
If there is an abnormal bitter taste, it may be that espresso is not properly extracted and can be adjusted by increasing the ratio of water to water. If you are still uncomfortable, you should adjust the extraction parameters of espresso.
