Coffee beans San Carlos Manor in El Salvador
El Salvador rainforest certified manor, awarded the COE winning Manor in 2011.
Chateau San Carlos, located in Canton Potrero Grande Arriba, is home to many famous coffee estates in El Salvador. The estate is very close to the summit of Mount Santa Ana in Santa Ana, with stunning landscapes, micro-climate patterns and steady rainfall. The farm is owned by Amadeo Riera y Solsona, who is a famous doctor. But today, his son Jaime Riera is a gastroenterologist and coffee farm manager. Jaime is now trying different pruning methods to improve the quality of their coffee. They plant 3200 coffee trees and shade trees per hectare. At the same time, due to altitude, the coffee fruit of San Carlos can grow slowly, making the fruit sweeter.
