The importance of filter cup in follicular brewing coffee
Filter cup
Filter cup is the most common filter in follicular coffee. The general filter cup needs to put a piece of filter paper on the filter cup, we will want the filter paper to be flat on the filter cup, so the way to fold the filter paper is to fold the stitches to different sides. When you put the filter paper into the filter cup, you can push the bottom of the filter paper mesh cup with your fingers to ensure flat sticking. (this action is easy to use, because often the filter paper does not fit so well with the filter cup. This will make the bottom of the filter paper at a distance from the bottom of the filter cup. If there is no flat sticker, it is easy for the coffee to warp up in the middle of the filter paper, which will affect the rhythm of coffee brewing and the uniformity of the water.) Here are some of our common filter cups.
1. Material
a. Magnetic filter cup
The heat dissipation of the filter cup in the brewing process is related to the quality of the coffee. The specific heat of the magnetic filter cup is large (that is, it takes a lot of heat to raise the temperature of the magnetic filter cup). If the magnetic filter cup is not heated in advance, the temperature of the coffee drops a lot during the brewing process. Before brewing, it is recommended to put the filter cup on the glass pot and wrap it around the hand pot.
Circle hot water to warm the hot filter cup and glass pot. The method is not certain, the key point is to be convenient and can achieve the effect of warm filter cup. But don't make the filter cup too hot to exaggerate, it's much hotter than you cook, and it's easy to scald the beans. For a while, no matter how I rushed my hands, it smelled so bad that I couldn't find the reason. Later, I found that I had a strong smell because I poured a lot of boiling water from the kettle directly into the violent heat of the filter cup, which made the filter cup overheated. In terms of experience, the cup has been filtered to show the coffee, the taste is more detailed and layered.
b. Resin filter cup
The heat conduction effect of the resin filter cup is very poor, so that the temperature of the coffee will not drop much. Therefore, the resin filter cup does not need to be warm in use. Resin filter cup is the most convenient filter cup for us, and it can be bought in many supermarkets. The key point is that it is not expensive. You can get a resin filter cup for 2-4 people for 100 yuan. There are resin filter cup manufacturers do a lot of size, 1-2 people, 2-4 people, 4-6 people have.
In terms of experience, it is easier to stifle the taste when the resin filter cup is washed in a small amount, but change the technique to pay attention to the development of coffee powder, so it is easier to show coffee.
c. Copper filter cup
The specific heat of the copper filter cup is small, and the inner lining of the filter cup is plated with a special alloy to make the copper filter cup accumulate heat quickly and dissipate heat quickly. Because the specific heat of the copper filter cup is small, the temperature of the coffee will not change too quickly, so it does not need to be warm. Compared with magnetic filter cup and resin filter cup, copper filter cup is easier to use than the other two materials in cold areas such as climbing snow mountains or countries with high latitudes. On the other hand, his characteristics of collecting heat and dissipating heat quickly make the coffee have a distinct personality, but it is easy to control the coffee if the user has better technology.
two。 Flow rate:
The flow rate of the filter cup is made through the design of the manufacturer. In general, there are several causes of what we see.
a. Number of outlet holes
Generally, there are two kinds of designs: single hole and three hole. With my experience, the flow rate of a single hole is relatively slow, which can help the coffee to flush out with a strong flavor. So it's easier to use on the base of fancy coffee.
b. The pattern on the wall of the filter cup
The pattern on the wall of the cup, the magnetic filter cup is mostly deep trench, the resin filter cup mostly has a protuberance, and Hario has a glass filter cup that has no pattern at all. These patterns will affect the flow rate. Have the opportunity to actually use and feel the difference between them!
c. The slope of the cup wall
The slope of the cup wall also affects the flow rate, but manufacturers will take this factor into account when designing different filter cups.
