How do we order a cup of coffee in a cafe?
You've been wondering how to order coffee at an Italian coffee shop? That's okay. In fact, there are many people in the United States who are not clear. From time to time, there are TV programs that introduce "how to order espresso drinks." What's not surprising is that ten of the people who come to these shows are probably from Starbucks. Whether in the United States or Taiwan, in fact, everyone's menu is basically similar to Starbucks (simply put, everyone is copied from Starbucks), and these are not Italian standard menus. However, no matter how good or bad, anyway, everyone is copying, we only have to follow the Seattle version (Starbucks version) to tell you how to order espresso drinks.
First of all, it is the size of the cup (this problem should not be in Taiwan). Starbucks stipulates that small cups are called short, medium cups are called tall, large cups are called grandes, and extra large cups are called venti. However, now they seem to automatically delete small, so whether you call tall or small, they will give you tall. Then, when they are in a good mood, they ask if you want low-fat milk or regular milk; when they are in a better mood, they ask if you want decaf coffee. If you know what you want, just tell them.
Okay, now for coffee. Like in Starbucks, there are some menus that technically you can order, but actually, it's best not to abuse yourself. So, I'm going to start with coffee that you can order in a regular cafe.
The safest option
This is what any cat or dog cafe can order. Of course, there were still some shops that tasted terrible, but it was generally tolerable.
Latte (pronounced LA-tay, stress first):
It's espresso plus a bunch of milk, sometimes with foam. This is Starbucks 'signature because Starbucks coffee cannot be drunk without so much milk. In a regular coffee shop, you don't know if it's good or bad, and it's usually the safe choice. But often the shop makes it too much like milk (ah, maybe they're trying to get a glass of "orthodox" because in Italy it's called latte and they really give you a glass of milk:p)
Mocha (pronounced MO-kah):
espresso with hot chocolate milk topped with whipped cream. This is the best choice for friends who like chocolate. If you have friends who don't drink coffee, recommend this drink.
Frappuccino is the name of Starbucks, and other stores have it, but the name may be different.
It's coffee and ice that's kind of like iced coffee. Starbucks mocha frappuccino is another drink you can recommend to friends who don't drink coffee.
[2] A better store can be ordered
If the store isn't too bad, you might want to try it. However, like Starbucks in the past, you can pretend that the project does not exist from now on. "Friends don't let friends go to Starbucks." ")
Cappuccino(pronounced cap-uh-CHEE-no):
Espresso, milk, milk foam ratio: 1:1:1, drink in a bad shop, bitter and astringent. So don't abuse yourself. But now many stores also can not distinguish Latte and Cappuccino, seems to be Latte feeling.
Con Panna (pronounced cone PA-na):
Espresso topped with whipped cream. I never ordered it.
Espresso Macchiato(mock-e-AH-toe):
This is espresso with a layer of foam on top. In fact, it doesn't have to be foam, steamed milk can also be.
[3] Good shop to consider
As you already know, this restaurant is of high standard, so you can order the drinks below. However, if you really find such a store, you will not think of anything else.
Espresso: If you see that store with ristretto, which is the essence of espresso, that would probably be a good store. A ristretto is the best part of coffee and is usually a favorite espresso for coffee fans. The other is lungo, which is a longer version of espresso and tastes completely different from ristretto.
There are many misconceptions about espresso, including that it's not a big seller in Seattle and that only experts order espresso. No! No! Most, even in seattle, especially one of the biggest chains, have an awful espresso. Experts don't order. But that's not what real espresso tastes like. An espresso made in a good store is guaranteed to leave you feeling good.
