You can taste Cuban coffee using a finely ground, nearly powdered coffee. Cuban-style coffee can also be widely used in whole bean and espresso blends. Cubans enjoy their coffee with lots of sugar. Unscrew the espresso machine and remove the metal filter cup from the bottom half. Pour ice-cold water into the bottom of the espresso machine until it reaches the bolt located inside.

In the meantime, heat the mocha pot once the top is about 3/4 full. This prevents it from burning and/or spilling onto the stove. When the coffee is finished, pour it slowly into a metal cup while gently mixing it with the sugar paste. If done properly (and yes, it does require practice and special touches), the syrup creates a "foam" once mixed with the rest of the coffee.

When the coffee is ready, you can start adding milk.
