This Moroccan five-spice coffee formula is ideal for brewing in automatic dripping machines, stove mochas or French coffee presses. Fragrant spices add an exotic flavor without overwhelming; for more excitement, add optional ginger and black pepper.

If you do not have a coffee / spice grinder, please replace coffee powder and ground spices. Stir them together and mix them.

Prepare materials

spice

1 / 4 teaspoon freshly ground cinnamon

1 / 4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1 / 4 teaspoon freshly ground ginger

1 / 4 teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg

1 / 8 teaspoon freshly ground green cardamom seeds

1 / 8 teaspoon freshly ground cloves

Coffee

A small amount of 1 cup freshly roasted coffee beans

4 cups of boiled water

Hot milk, taste

Sugar, if necessary.

Operation method

Mix the spices with the coffee beans in a grinder and blender until the beans are finely ground.

Boil 4 cups of water.

Put some milk-one or more cups-in a small hot pot and heat it over low heat. Don't let it boil.

If you make coffee in a filter: pour the coffee mixture into a paper-lined brewing cup. Pour about 2 ounces of boiling water on the coffee to make the ground "blossom". Then slowly add the remaining water and let it drip through the ground into the pot below.

Or (for Mikekey) if you are using a French press: put the coffee and spice mixture at the bottom of the pressure cooker. Pour in the necessary amount of boiling water, place the top in place, and let the mixture soak for 4 to 5 minutes. Press down on the plunger.

If necessary, pour the spiced coffee into the cup and add hot milk (and sugar).
