Gold investment futures on August 28th, London International Financial Futures Exchange (LIFFE)-November Robusta coffee futures climbed 21 US dollars, or 1%, to close at 2048 US dollars per ton.

Arabica coffee futures rose above $2 on Wednesday, extending the previous day's rally on concerns about production in Brazil, the largest producer of coffee beans. Cocoa futures fell after surging in the first minute of trading, hitting their highest level since May 2011.

Neumann, an influential and closely watched trader, expects Brazil to produce 45 million bales of coffee in 2015 / 16, down from a previous forecast of 47.7 million bales (60kg each), according to two industry sources, pushing up Arabica coffee prices as it reinforces fears that the drought earlier this year will cause long-term damage to Brazilian cocoa beans.

ICE- December Arabica coffee futures rose 70 cents, or 0.4%, to close at $1.9815 a pound, hitting a four-week high of $2.0270.

Liffe- December futures fell 12 pounds, or 0.6 percent, to close at 2024 pounds a tonne. Liffe- October sugar futures closed down $2.40, or 0.6%, at $426.30 a tonne.
