Great coffee starts with producers, and their families may have spent generations perfecting their methods to grow the highest possible quality coffee. Fazenda Capim Branco, which has been in the Andrade family since 1901, is one of the oldest professional coffee farms in Brazil. It is located near Paraneba on the green Serrado Minero plateau in the northern state of Minas Gerais, bordering Bahia. It is the first coffee producing region in Brazil to gain the status of origin, making it similar to the status of famous wine regions.
The Serrado Mineiro area, which is 1100 to 1250 meters above sea level, provides ideal conditions for coffee production due to the perfect balance of the dry and wet seasons. The soil of Fazenda Capim Branco is volcanic soil, and most of the land on the farm is planted with the yellow Catuai variety, which grows well in this environment. Careful management, such as those carried out by the Andrade family, produces consistent flowering and maturation, creating good conditions for the use of natural methods for handling coffee. In this case, ripe cherries are dried on the terrace without being ground, resulting in a sweet, fruity coffee. Once the coffee beans have reached the ideal humidity level, they are dried, removed from the dried pulp and parchment, and then sorted and screened for export.
Combined with the region's natural conditions, meticulous crop management, forward-looking crop planning and post-harvest choices, the end result of all Andrader family farms is excellent quality and award-winning coffee that is appreciated all over the world.
