The best coffee is grown in the north of the country, near Costa Rica and near the Pacific Ocean. Boquet district in Chiriqui province is famous for its coffee production, while other districts include David district, Remacimeinto district, Bugaba district and Tole district.

Café Volcan Baru, recognized by critics, is gaining momentum and is of exceptional quality, producing 2000 bags in 1994, or 1 per cent of the country's total.
