Honduras took fifth place from Ethiopia in the 2016-2017 crop year, while Honduras retained its place in the 2017-2018 crop year, producing 450000 tons of coffee. It is also the third largest producer in Latin America. Honduras is a major producer of specialty coffee, with exports surging 145 per cent in the crop year 2016-2017 compared with the previous year.
