Why use V60?
Some people may ask, "if I have a great bulk brewer at home, what's the point of using V60?" I think it's possible to get good grades with a clean, high-quality intermittent brewer (so do some coffee experts like Scott Rao), but personally, I don't often drink coffee brewed with an intermittent brewer.
In theory, I don't understand why an automated home beer can't wipe the floor with a cup of manual V60s, but in fact they are often cheap and never from the question "how to produce a huge extraction?" but instead directly use the cheapest ingredients for water coffee. They are usually made of plastic, which I find can bring bad taste to cups (depending on the type of plastic). Sometimes it's easy to forget to wash them, which can eventually make your coffee disgusting (if you want an idea, try smelling the beer basket in the hotel room-but in fact, don't do it). They usually have a large container for water, and if you don't use it often, the water will change, which can lead to very bad coffee. Some coffee machines also have heating elements under the coffee pot, which is a good way to make coffee and will make the situation worse.
In most specialty coffee shops, they have decent mass-produced coffee machines, and they seem to wash them often. In this case, the most common question I encounter is how long the coffee will be kept in a sealed jar before the staff serves it. If it is fresh for more than half an hour, it can make super delicious coffee, but if you wait too long, it will gradually become like the next layer of hell. It will never reach the last layer of hell, however, only the worst lattes can reach it.
