Qianjie-introduction to Columbia Coffee grading system
If you have a sack of different Colombian coffee on hand, you will find that "Excelso-Caf é de Colombia" is written on each sack. Whether it is EP,SUPREMO,UGQ, as long as it meets the Colombian export grade coffee sacks, it will be marked "Excelso".
Excelso export grade is the most widely used export standard grade of FNC and the best export grade of Colombian raw beans.
What is the Excelso level standard?
After strict screening, the size of raw coffee beans should be more than 14 mesh, and no more than 5% of raw beans must be between 12 mesh and 14 mesh. In general, 50% of raw coffee beans must be larger than 15 mesh.
No pest, uniform color, no smell, clean flavor
Moisture content must not exceed 12.5%
The defect rate should not exceed the limit of 24 points.
According to the three grades of commercial beans that FNC exports most frequently-Excelso UGQ 1260 (1.5%), Excelso EP 1260 (10%), Excelso Supremo12*60 (5%).
Excelso UGQ 1260 (1.5%): raw bean size is more than 14 mesh, 1.5% raw bean is allowed between 12 mesh and 14 mesh, but it must be more than 12 mesh, and more than 50% is more than 15 mesh.
Excelso EP 1260 (10%): raw bean size is more than 15 mesh, 10% raw bean is allowed to be less than 15 mesh, but must be more than 14 mesh.
Excelso Supremo 1260 (5%): the size of raw beans is more than 17 mesh. 5% raw beans are allowed to be less than 17 mesh, but must be more than 14 mesh.
At this point, the classification level of Colombia should be clear at a glance. The percentage in parentheses represents the "tolerance rate". After all, it is impossible for raw coffee beans to be 100% the same size. From the size of raw beans, Supremo is indeed the largest particle, as for super is not super, but also please drink more!
Knowledge: the coffee grading of most coffee-producing countries is not carried out according to one standard, but not only to examine the defect rate, but also to ensure the size of beans, but also to measure the grade of beans by multiple standards such as a certain altitude.
