Qianjie-introduction of three major coffee varieties
Arabica coffee plants are usually not tall, slightly slender green leaves, smaller oval fruit, also known as small seed coffee. With outstanding flavor, charming aroma and clear acidity, the bean shape is uneven and the Zhongyang line is S-shaped, accounting for about 65% of the world coffee turnover. It is generally considered to be the only coffee variety that can be drunk directly. In particular, the characteristics of high-altitude areas are incisively and vividly. Although genetic deficiencies (specific chromosome number, androgyny, self-pollination) lead to its weak vitality, weak resistance to diseases and insect pests, and high cost of planting management, but its huge commercial value makes it still have the largest planting area. The famous Blue Mountain Coffee is a genetic mutant in Arabica.
2. Robusta (Robusta)
To be exact, another native species of red coffee, the Robusta species, is only a nickname, and its big name should be called (Canephora Canipla species), which originated in the Congo in central Africa. It has stronger vitality, stronger resistance to diseases and insect pests and lower cost of planting and management than Arabica. The beans are neatly shaped. But it is a little inferior in flavor. It also contains about twice as much caffeine as Arabica. Therefore, it is not recognized by coffee consumers. Compared with Arabica, the sour taste of Robusta is not obvious, but the bitterness is outstanding. The flavor is single. But rich in fat. Therefore, Robusta is widely used in the production of instant coffee and canned coffee.
But as a matter of fact, Robusta also has fine products. Today, some traditional coffee roasters use a large proportion of Arabica with a small amount of Robusta as Italian coffee beans, resulting in a slightly lower cost and higher yield of finished coffee. it also has a richer fat, more unique bitterness and a better sense of hierarchy.
3. Liberia Card species (Liberica)
Lilika coffee tree is a tall evergreen tree with upward trunk shape, large fruit and strong vitality, but poor flavor, aroma and resistance to diseases and insect pests. Most of them are traded in West Africa. Commercial value is weak, and now there is little special discussion on species conservation or scientific research planting.
The main producing countries are Indonesia, Vietnam and West Africa with C ô te d'Ivoire, Algeria and Angola as the center. West Africa is the origin of coffee grown in Liberia. It has a strong ability to adapt to all kinds of environments, whether high or low temperature, humid or dry, except that it is not resistant to leaf rust and its flavor is worse than that of Arabica, so it is only traded in some West African countries (Libya, C ô te d'Ivoire, etc.). Or planted for research.
Knowledge: "Arabica" is not synonymous with good coffee, even if it is Arabica, there are hierarchical differences.
