Ugandan coffee is more like a rising star on the African continent than the established Ethiopian and Kenyan regions, but Ugandan coffee is still in a state of obscurity. In the early 1990s, the government gave up monopoly and ceded export rights to cooperatives, large and small, greatly activating the production and quality of Ugandan coffee. The turning point that really caught the world's attention was the 2017 World Coffee Brewing Competition, in which Hungarian Michael won fourth place with a sun-dried Ugandan bean.

In this master competition, other contestants used Rose Summer, while the unknown Ugandan Coffee broke out of the siege and entered the semi-finals, which can be said to be the dark horse in the coffee competition held in the main summer producing areas like Panama, Rose Xia competed separately from other varieties of coffee beans, otherwise there was no doubt that professional teams competed with amateur teams.

In the past, Uganda had only washed coffee (the natural conditions of abundant rainfall and more precipitation in the country), but the sun treatment made the coffee beans stronger in aroma and sweetness, more obvious in fruit flavor and richer in flavor levels. In the retro popularity of sun-dried beans today, the elegant sun flavor, combined with the flavor characteristics of the coffee producing area, is the most fascinating to coffee lovers.

Ugandan coffee processing is mainly wet processing (washing) and dry (solarization) processing. Most of the robusta coffee is processed by daily dry method, but also a small part of it is processed by wet method. Generally speaking, the quality of wet processing is higher than that of dry processing. There are 537 dry processing plants and 22 wet processing plants in Uganda

In the washing method, the harvested coffee cherries are separated from the exocarp and most of the pulp by a pericarp machine, and the coffee beans with endocarp enter a clean tank and soak in water for fermentation to remove the remaining pulp layer.

The method of sun treatment is to remove the unqualified floating beans and then dry them in the sun, during which the fresh fruit is constantly turned to avoid fermentation or mildew, so as to achieve a very clean and rich flavor.

Knowledge: Uganda, like Congo, is also the birthplace of Rodou. As Africa's second-largest coffee exporter, Uganda's Robusta exports account for 7% of the world's output.
