Located in the fertile hills of the Poas volcano in the central valley of Costa Rica, Fenghuang Manor is the first producer in Central and South America to produce honey treatment and sun-tanned coffee. It is a completely 100% organically grown coffee manor. The owner believes that organic farming is a better choice for environmental maintenance and family health, even though it faces many technical and organizational challenges. He became famous when he took part in the boutique coffee contest in 2009. During the harvest season, the wine industry is often surprisingly sweet! The manor attaches great importance to the concept of environmentally friendly treatment (column: collecting Rain Water to handle coffee), and the production and use of organic compost for earthworm farming (worm composting) makes the planting process completely free of chemical fertilizers and pesticides.

The processing equipment of the manor is built in the sugarcane factory in the center of the farm. Due to the complete use of honey treatment and sun treatment, the two treatments require more manual and post-processing time than the traditional water washing treatment. Each pound of raw coffee beans in the factory can also save 3 gallons of clean water, which also reflects the Fenghuang Manor's emphasis on quality rather than weight. All the energy and electricity on the farm comes from self-built hydropower facilities and 100% renewable energy, which can be supplied to the equipment of the processing plant and the workers living on the farm.

Black honey treatment (Dark Honey) is currently one of the most complex and difficult raw bean processing methods, of which the most special is to remove the peel coated on the coffee beans, completely retain the pulp of the coffee berries, and then undergo natural fermentation, and finally absorb the full energy of the sun during the sun drying process to create a sweeter and richer taste, like molasses.

After removing the peel, the coffee beans with pulp were placed on the African scaffolding in the early morning until after the afternoon, and then regularly turned and then exposed to 11.5% moisture content, the whole process takes about two weeks.

At the same time, in the manor fertilization materials, the manor owner strictly requires that all processes should be planted and fertilized in accordance with organic standards, the whole manor uses organic self-made compost, and the organic standard is extended to include soil quality, shade trees and treatment procedures. After years of efforts, Fenghuang Manor has passed the Japanese JAS, American USDA and NOP organic certification.
