Kaduai means "very good". Today, the Kaduai variety of coffee is considered to have good (not amazing) cup quality. It is divided into two kinds: yellow cherry berries and red cherry berries. it was first crossed between yellow Kaddura and New World in 1949 and was originally called Hmur2077.

The variety was officially released in Brazil in 1972 and has been selected through pedigree selection (single plant selection through successive generations) and widely planted there. Today, in Brazil, there are a variety of Catuai planting production pedigrees to choose from; some have high planting efficiency. Kaduai, which is transferred from Brazil to Central America, seems to be less productive; for example, studies have found that Kaduai introduced in Honduras and Costa Rica does not have a significant yield advantage over Kaddura.

Kaduai also has the difference between red fruit and yellow fruit, which is cleaner than yellow fruit. Kaduai, Kaddura, New World and bourbon are the four main varieties of coffee in Brazil.
