Qianjie-introduction to Rosa Coffee
In the last decade, the hottest boutique coffee in the West should be the "Rose Summer" coffee, which is famous for its sweet fruit flavor. The English name of "Rose Summer" is "Gesha" or "Geisha". It comes from the village of Rose Xia ("Gesha Village") in southwestern Ethiopia. Rose seeds were brought out of Ethiopia by the British in the 1930s, spread to Costa rica in Central America in the 1950s, and introduced to Panama in the 1960s, including the famous Boquete region.
Rosa rose to fame at the Panama Coffee Competition in 2004. Hacienda La Esmeralda from the Boquete region won the championship with the highest score ever and sold the highest price of coffee beans at the time (currently Rosa beans can cost as much as $600 a pound, especially by Japanese buyers). With the popularity of the rose variety, its cultivation quickly expanded to Colombia, Guatemala, Peru and other Central and South American countries. The Boquete region of Panama, due to its high altitude, combined with volcanic soil and clouds and rain from the Pacific Ocean, has cultivated the highest quality rosy summer.
The leaves, fruits and seeds (coffee beans) of rose summer are obviously on the long side.
Asians, especially in Japan and Taiwan, where coffee is more developed, especially like rose summer, mainly because it has many characteristics similar to tea. The elegant fragrance of rose summer is very much like jasmine tea. After the entrance, the smooth fruit taste is like semi-fermented tea, showing that Rosa coffee is light and sweet, but it has the characteristics of thickness.
Because of its small output, good quality and high price, Rosa has become the first choice of baristas in the competition, but it is rarely seen in coffee shops. As a variety, Rosa is outstanding: it is generally believed that several major coffee varieties are equally different in taste and each has its own characteristics. Finally, the taste of coffee in the cup depends more on other factors, such as picking, dehydration, roasting, brewing, and so on. However, Rose Summer itself has many characteristics, such as its thick taste and unique flavor, so that the baristas who choose it can win at the starting line in the race.
