Different coffee beans have different hardness due to different growth factors such as altitude, climate and so on. Before brewing coffee and grinding powder, we should adjust the grinding degree of the bean grinder according to the characteristics of each kind of bean.

When you get a coffee bean, how to determine its degree of grinding? This should be based on the proportion of coffee powder passing through the standard sieve.

Standard sieve pass rate:

Manual 80% > American trickle 75-80% > cup test 70-75% > normal pressure 65-70%.

The steps of the bean grinder to adjust the grinding degree:

Take VARIO's electric bean grinder as an example, the grinding degree suitable for hand-brewed coffee needs to be adjusted:

1, weigh 10 grams of coffee beans, pay attention to the standard weight of 10.0 grams, try to avoid more or less error grams.

2. Choose a degree of grinding that you usually use, such as 5C.

3. After grinding 10 grams of coffee beans, weigh the powder again, which must be consistent with the 10 grams before grinding.

4. use a standard sieve to screen the coffee powder, weigh the coffee powder, a small amount of time, until the coffee powder can no longer be screened out.

5. Weigh the total weight of coffee powder that has passed the standard sieve, such as 7.5 grams, that is, 75% pass rate, which meets the American drip filtration or cup test, but does not meet the hand grinding requirements.

6. Refine the bean grinder by one frame and repeat the above steps until 80% of the coffee powder passes the standard sieve.
