In 2012, Starbucks opened a Yunnan Farmer support Center in Pu'er. The goal is simple: to help farmers in Yunnan improve coffee quality while establishing CAFE (coffee and farm assets) practices to help ensure socially and environmentally responsible coffee production.

Recently, Starbucks Aini Coffee Co. A joint venture initiative began to provide high-quality coffee beans to farmers in the region, greatly improving the quality of coffee and stimulating the production of fine, world-class coffee beans. The newly opened Starbucks Collection ™Bakery in Shanghai proudly displays such a batch of yellow honey from Yunnan, China.

Stepping into the countryside of southern China's Yunnan Province, you will see acres of rolling green hills, rice terraces and the area's famous surreal karst landscape. Yunnan is considered to be one of the most diverse regions in the country in terms of ethnicity and biodiversity, and is home to thousands of plant species.

The coffee factory has a relatively young history in the country-it was first introduced by French missionaries in the late 1800s and was not widely produced until 1988. The vast majority of this coffee-- about 95% of it-- is produced in lush Yunnan province.
