Hacienda la Amistad is located in the state of Coto Brus in Costa Rica's Punta Renas province and is owned and operated by third-generation coffee farmer Roberto Montero (Roberto Montero). Roberto's grandfather first came to the region in the early 1900s as part of a team investigating the border between Costa Rica and the newly formed country of Panama. 90% of the estate's land is protected tropical rain forest, a rich ecosystem that shelters a variety of flora and fauna, including more than 400 native and migratory birds. The United Nations and UNESCO have declared our biological corridor part of the World Heritage site and the World Biosphere Reserve.
La Amistad Estate only processes and packages coffee produced on its own organic plantations or on land owned by organic producers' associations. The founder of La Amistad donated the land to the families that formed the association when he established his home in the area in the 1940s. Our founder's vision is that this is a way to build a solid future based on local communities.
