Indonesian Aceh Coffee Story characteristics of Geographic Environment and Flavor of Indonesian Coffee beans
Aceh coffee is simple, spicy and usually full of cocoa, nuts and licorice roots. It's the classic taste of Manning Coffee. In our daily quality cup test, we notice how these coffees touch completely different sensory ranges. When we write down the delightfully thick body of these coffees, the spices and herbs spread out in layers. For example, the most direct feeling of Blue Mountain coffee is that it is very balanced.
The symbol of Sumatra is Aceh Coffee: subtle sweetness and profound existence
The contrast between sweet Ethiopian flavor and Aceh coffee can be huge. However, we found that Aceh coffee is also sweet, but more subtle. Vanilla, orange and drupe are not uncommon in Aceh's coffee flavor, but herbal and chocolate flavors are still the main tonality.
Aceh is geographically diverse. There are beaches on all sides and inland swamps, with Mount Bari at the center. This mountain range accounts for 2/3 of the province, with the highest peak, Mount Leuser (3381 masl).
Tropical rain forest carpets cover the back of these mountains and volcanoes. This volcanic soil is one of the attributes that shape the layered profile of Aceh coffee. Another significant "landmark" is Lake Tawar.
Aceh's coffee story is also very moving. Imperial colonialism tried to subdue the Aceh, but the Director-General met with fierce resistance. The Portuguese were defeated in 1614 and the Netherlands was caught in a 25-year war. Although the Dutch won the Aceh War, the form of guerrilla resistance attacks has always existed. Even if there is a history of violence in the past, these things will make Aceh people feel proud and proud, because these events show their unremitting motivation and character as an independent province.
It is not only history that makes Aceh proud, coffee is also Aceh's pride. Although the Indonesian island of Java has become famous in the coffee industry, Arabica coffee production in Sumatra began only in the 1700s under Dutch colonialism. Aceh, located at the northern end of the island around Lake Tawar, was the first area to start growing coffee and is known for its complex characteristics of fruit, soil and wood, mainly due to their traditional wet shelling process. With the improvement of quality, the unique characteristics make the region become the focus of attention. The forested Aceh region, including Takengon and Bener Mariah, is one of them. Farmers here are proud of their tradition of growing coffee, and the more they understand the direct relationship between quality coffee and direct premium, the more sustainable their success will be.
If you can't accept the taste of this unique Indonesian herb, you can try the fresher Rosa Coffee.
