Coffee beans

Front Street Coffee should have been roasting coffee for about eight years, and we should have been involved in coffee cultivation for eight and a half years, yes, six months longer than we started roasting coffee.

The predecessor of Qianjie Coffee is "Dazhen Coffee". This name is because we want to grow coffee in a place called Dazhen in Guangdong. When we use Katim to grow seedlings to 20CM, half a year has passed before we understand: The relationship between varieties, altitudes and processing methods and their sequence, selecting the correct varieties, planting at appropriate altitudes, and experimenting with processing methods that can express unique flavor after maturity, are the only logical relationship that I think fine coffee can have obvious regional flavor, and are also the leading work of Yunnan Agricultural Department: establishing Yunnan fine coffee flavor atlas. This sentence means to find out the regional flavor of Yunnan fine coffee, so we gave up the planting plan in Guangdong, and the original place for roasting coffee was opened in Baoan Qianjie, so we renamed "Dazhen Coffee" as "Qianjie Coffee" Yunnan currently has more than 2 million mu of coffee, most of which were developed under the stimulation of coffee prices in 2010-2011. Yunnan coffee is positioned to supply coffee raw materials, so all choose high-yield katim, which is a hybrid variety. What we want to know is the performance of iron pickup and bourbon in Yunnan, so it is unlikely to buy ready-made Yunnan coffee fields, but only through breeding to plant coffee from scratch. One of the reasons why Yunnan coffee is popular now is that they originally planted Katim varieties, which is equivalent to highlighting the flavor of post-treatment method without changing varieties and altitudes. A shortcut.

In Qianjie, while roasting coffee, we continued to move forward with the idea of fine coffee planting. We visited a few coffee farmers who planted fine coffee in the Institute of Thermal Science (Institute of Tropical Agricultural Sciences) of the Ministry of Agriculture, which has in-depth research on coffee planting, and figured out the reasons why Yunnan did not plant the mainstream variety of fine coffee, Tibika Bourbon, and also found suitable land for planting by chance. If you just want a ready-made coffee estate, it's easy. Yunnan coffee farmers have been reluctant to grow coffee because the cost of picking a kilogram of coffee is more expensive than its selling price. Unless there is surplus labor at home, they are unwilling to pick coffee when it is ripe. At this time, before harvesting, buy one from the farmer.

A small piece of land, and then engage in the sun, engage in honey processing what, Yunnan fine coffee two or three months out. We do not know whether this controversial approach is correct, as the former Yunka old factory director commented in the previous article: "The current situation of more than one million mu of Catimo in Yunnan production area is the main problem that we need to improve urgently." So it's good to have arguments, but we can't negate all the efforts we're making now. In the fog, Front Street Coffee chose one of the hardest ways to go: choose high ground, cultivate Arabica seeds, and grow them properly.

Yunnan does not have four seasons, only dry season and two seasons, most coffee producing areas are similar, which is also the root cause of the use of solarization in some producing areas. Entering June, it is the beginning of the rainy season in the producing area, and the next three or four months will rain twice, which is the most favorable period for coffee cultivation. Only when the seedlings are planted at this time, there are several months of rain moisture to grow developed roots through the first half of the dry season, this batch of seedlings we choose is iron pickup, the new copper-colored leaves are its special

levy. Iron pickup production is very low, one-third of Katim production. So why is it more expensive? At the same time, iron pica and bourbon are also very easy to get rust disease, which is also one of the reasons why farmers are unwilling to plant arabica. In order to plant this batch so that it has a good growth foundation when it lands, we have bred seedlings in the nursery one year in advance, which is usually carried out within one or two months after the harvest of the previous season, and properly control water and fertilizer during this year to avoid growing too fast. Make sure that the seeds have the highest germination rate and that the taproots of the seedlings do not grow too long to be cut off at the time of planting.

I hope we can go wider and farther on the road of coffee. Have your own coffee shop.
