Will coffee really give you extra energy to expose the five coffee myths for you?
There's a few coffee rumors flying around, and we just need to get rid of them! Some people say coffee stunts your growth, or that it can make you lose weight, but is the rumor true? Today we will discuss some of these rumors and clear up any misconceptions about coffee that may exist. This way you can enjoy your morning coffee without worrying that it will make you shorter.
Coffee hinders your growth.
Did we, or did your mom tell you coffee stunted your growth and made you stop drinking as a teenager? It didn't really work for us…we were totally addicted to coffee then and still are!
Fortunately, the idea that coffee stunts your growth is a myth. Researchers monitored a group of young women during adolescence to see if their caffeine intake affected their bone health and growth, and spoiler alert, it didn't! Teenagers with caramel macchiato habits will be happy to know that they are not putting their health at risk by indulging.

Decaffeinated coffee contains no caffeine.
A lot of people think decaf coffee doesn't have any caffeine, and we don't blame them! The name "decaffeinated coffee" means that all caffeine has been removed from the coffee beans. Unfortunately, this is not the case.
The decaffeination process removes almost all of the caffeine from the coffee beans-97 percent to be exact. But brewed decaffeinated coffee still contains some caffeine because the decaffeination process cannot remove all of it.
The average caffeine content of a cup of decaffeinated coffee is between 2 and 12 milligrams. So if you limit yourself to just a few cups, you won't consume too much caffeine. The average espresso contains 77 milligrams of caffeine. So just drink two cups of decaf and it's like espresso!
Coffee gives you extra energy.
Caffeine is a stimulant, and it's one of the main ingredients in coffee, so theoretically coffee should give you more energy. But if you're a regular hand coffee drinker, sadly it won't have that effect on you anymore!
Caffeine increases dopamine levels in your brain, making you feel good and alert. But if you consume caffeine regularly, your body gets so used to dopamine stimulation that it needs it to work. So, over time, dopamine stimulation doesn't make you feel extra energized-it just gets you back to your normal baseline energy levels.
Dark roasts contain more caffeine
Most people think that darker, stronger roasts contain more caffeine, but that's not really the case. Dark roast meat has a strong smoky flavor and aroma and should smell more caffeine than any other roast meat. But light roasts, which have fruity flavors, actually have the highest caffeine content.
During the roasting process, some of the caffeine in specialty coffee actually turns into gas. It's the heat that causes caffeine to turn into gas and dissipate, so coffee beans that roast longer lose more caffeine.
Coffee helps to lose weight
Almost every diet pill contains caffeine. It should speed up your metabolism and suppress your appetite, helping you lose weight. But the jury is still on the issue-there isn't a lot of scientific evidence to support it.
Even if coffee does boost your metabolism slightly, it may still not be worth drinking for weight loss purposes unless you can drink it black. Cream and sugar add a lot of calories to your cup, counteracting any metabolism-boosting effects coffee may have.
