With the Spring Festival approaching, many college students who are on holiday go to tea and coffee shops to find part-time jobs and earn some pocket money. But after working for a period of time, winter vacation workers who are new to the workplace are a little confused about some store rules, such as the Xicha part-time worker who posted an inquiry on the social platform. She posted a screenshot of the chat and asked questioningly, "are all milk tea shops like this or do you like tea like this?"
According to the picture provided by the poster, the Xi Cha store told all its staff that "people who have not been on for more than 6 hours are not allowed to eat." On the other hand, employees who do not meet this standard and want to eat need to deduct half an hour of meal working hours or voluntarily work half an hour of overtime. In response, the employee said that he had not heard of similar rules when he was working part-time in a restaurant, so he wondered whether Xicha's request to the clerk was reasonable.
Coincidentally, a part-time employee of Xicha, who just left, shared his work experience, which also mentioned the store's rule that employees can only eat for six hours. In the comment section of the post, some Xicha employees said that the rules of their stores were more stringent, "I can eat here for 7 hours", "I can't eat for less than eight hours" and "We don't eat until the end of eight hours."
From this point of view, if the workers go to work at the happy tea store at 9: 00 in the morning, at least they need to work non-stop until 3: 00 in the afternoon to get a short meal time and directly miss the meal. In the view of new employees who are new to the workplace, the rule of "like tea" does not take into account the actual needs of employees and does not give people a rest time to eat midway. "if you enter the factory, you can at least have a meal on time, and no employer can even have lunch."
However, catering practitioners who have worked for many years frankly say that the meal of the general public is basically a single-order period in restaurants, and staff need to cope with continuous orders during peak periods, so it is normal for many catering workers to be unable to eat on time. Many people may skip lunch or dinner at work and wait until they clock in after work to deal with their growling bellies.
However, although we understand that we are unable to eat on time because of the nature of our work, there are still many people who think that there is something unreasonable about the regulation of liking tea. Some shop assistants said that because they need to meet the length of time in order to have a paid meal, some stores deliberately delay their working hours during their shifts, so that "part-time jobs don't have time for meals" and "those who only work for five hours just can't eat."
In addition, if the store business is average, some part-time feedback "go to work within two hours to get off work", "if you are not busy, let you go, special card 5.5 hours".
For tea workers, their working hours basically determine how much they can get paid. However, in order to control human efficiency, store managers cut working hours and reduce shifts, which virtually reduced the wages of shop assistants, resulting in workers having to endure hungry and almost endless work in order to protect their working hours.
Some tea employees describe their current situation in the store as "not giving horse grass but asking horses to run", saying bluntly that many workers have long been dissatisfied with the company's proposal of "do not eat when they are dissatisfied with working hours", but there is no response after upward feedback. They have no choice but to accept this unreasonable rule and be a non-eating robot at the bar.
