I have written a lot of essays about how it is not easy to open a coffee shop. Many people say that it will affect other people's dreams of opening a coffee shop, and many others say that it will affect the shaping of domestic coffee culture. What I want to say is that in fact, I write these things not to make you give up your dreams, but to make you more firm in your dreams and let you know that dreams are hard to come by.
Dreams are not daydreaming at night.
A dream without action is like an eunuch showing off how majestic his bird is when he sees everyone every day. So how big your own bird is, only you and your friends know how far you can fly, and you can only know if you fly. But for those who are under the banner of a distant dream of opening a coffee shop, you touch your cooling heart and ask yourself, is it a dream for you to open a coffee shop? Have you ever done anything to bring yourself closer to your dream? Lack of funds is not an excuse. If you don't have money, try to make money. Those of us who run cafes like this: buy copper pots if you like, sell more coffee if you want to use slayer, study flavor even harder if you want to be a good barista, practice your Espresso if you want to join WBC, and work hard to make money if you want to marry a sweetheart.
When you think of it, do it, work hard, enjoy it desperately. Endure to keep thinking, youth shake ah shake on the past, why use the mentality of 40 years old to guard the age of 20 years?
For those who say that what I write will hurt people who want to open cafes and affect the promotion of domestic coffee culture, do you have any friends who have ever opened cafes? Have you ever known the ultimate goal of running a cafe? Have you ever known the feelings of those young people who opened and closed down their shops? I don't want to stop them from realizing their dream of opening a cafe, but I want them to know why they want to open a cafe. The purpose of opening a coffee shop is not to drink coffee and read books every day, not to enjoy life every day, or to have leisure time to bask in the sun every day. The purpose of opening a coffee shop is to make more people drink better quality coffee and to improve the quality of life of more people. At least at present, I am working hard for these. So, please put your self-righteous "open coffee shop = enjoy life" out of your mind. At least so far, I have not seen a coffee shop owner enjoying life. Everyone works hard every day for a meagre turnover, and every day he spends his time communicating with all kinds of guests in order to sell one more cup of coffee and one less drink. I don't think those cafes that blindly open shops and eventually become milk tea shops or restaurants can help promote the domestic coffee culture. At least I don't think it's time for milk tea shops and restaurants to help promote the coffee culture in our domestic coffee industry.
As for friends who are ready to open a coffee shop, don't think that you have hired a good barista or hotel management experience, but it really has nothing to do with you opening a coffee shop. As the owner of a coffee shop, I don't expect you to be good at making coffee, nor how much money you can spend on good equipment. I only ask for one thing-- love coffee. Only the boss who loves coffee will drink coffee, only the boss who drinks coffee will improve the quality of coffee, only cafes that improve the quality of coffee can promote coffee culture, and only if your cafe guides the coffee culture, can your shop survive. Because in my opinion, the only meaning of a cafe is to survive forever.
