The study found that drinking more than one cup of coffee a day may damage liver function.
According to the Taiwan TV News Network, drinking coffee can refresh and improve work efficiency. However, recent studies have found that some people have a weak ability to metabolize caffeine. Drinking more than one cup of coffee a day may damage liver function.
There is a 50-year-old woman in Taiwan who drank three cups of coffee a day and later developed symptoms of abnormal liver function. after examination, it was found that the gene type in her body was relatively special and her ability to metabolize coffee was weak. More than 20% of Asians have this gene.
It is understood that the woman used to drink three cups of coffee a day, the liver index rose to 55/60U/L, and then changed to no coffee every day, the liver index dropped to the normal value of 36/43U/L.
After testing, her CYP1A1 gene belongs to CC type, which is different from TT type, which can normally metabolize caffeine. CC gene cannot normally metabolize substances containing caffeine, and even tea, chocolate, cold medicine and headache medicine can cause an increase in liver index.
Studies in Russia and Australia have found that an average of 2 out of every 10 people in Asian countries have poor caffeine metabolism.
Experts warn that if you can't give up the habit of drinking coffee every day, try to choose coffee with low caffeine and drink no more than one cup a day to avoid liver damage.
