In addition, they followed 41736 men from 1986 to 2004. Those who drank 2 to 3 cups of coffee a day were as likely to die as non-drinkers, neither high nor low.
The study was conducted mainly through questionnaires, and none of the participants had previously had heart disease or cancer.
