Coffee for lunch prevents diabetes? Coffee Health Time

Last Updated: 2024/11/08, Researchers at the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil, who studied nearly 70,000 women for 11 years, found that those who drank at least one cup of coffee at lunch had a one-third lower risk of developing type 2 diabetes than those who did not drink coffee, regardless of whether coffee contained caffeine and sugar. The findings showed that women who drank at least three cups of coffee a day had a 27 percent reduced risk of developing diabetes and drank more than one cup of coffee at lunch.

Researchers at the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil surveyed nearly 70, 000 women for 11 years and found that those who drank at least one cup of coffee at lunch had a 3 percent lower risk of developing Ⅱ diabetes than those who did not drink coffee, regardless of whether the coffee contained caffeine and sugar.

The results showed that women who drank at least three cups of coffee a day had a 27% lower risk of diabetes, and women who drank more than one cup of coffee at lunch had a 33% lower risk than other women.

Drinking coffee for the rest of the day had no effect on the risk of developing diabetes. (health News)
