This time, Russian photographer Dina Belenko combined high-speed shutter and strobe to capture the posture of milk or coffee splashing. The picture has magical tension. Let's see how he did it!

Since she previously shared Empty Cup on 500px, which attracted many photography enthusiasts to ask questions about shooting techniques, Dina Belenko decided to share a simple tutorial with you directly on milk.

Tools and materials to be prepared

In the scene layout, the plywood is needed as the background and support, and the plywood is painted in different colors according to the ideal shooting picture. In addition, there are syringes, hot melt adhesives, sticky enough double-sided adhesive, and other decorative props (cups and other containers, cookies, tablecloths, etc.). In addition to the camera, a tripod and an external flash will also be required for the shooting equipment.

implementation process

First, design the setting of the shooting scene. The background plywood can be painted in different colors according to the needs of the picture. After confirming the position of the prop arrangement is OK, put it on the plywood. Start to fix props such as cups, biscuits and other heavy props with hot melt adhesive fixed, other lighter weight can be fixed with double-sided adhesive. It is important to make sure that they are firmly fixed to the plywood, because the next step is to turn the plywood upside down, so that the scene "upside down", Dina Belenko also chose to use two other white painted plywood to support the erection, because of the white, but also as a reflector to illuminate.

After setting up the scene props, the next step is to set up the shooting equipment, the most important of which is the flash. Dina Belenko manually sets the intensity of the flash between 1/8 and 1/128 to condense the flow of the liquid, and turns on the strobe mode to achieve continuous shooting and capture the movement of the liquid. In addition to this, he also uses a soft mask and reflectors.

When everything is OK, you can fill the syringe with coffee, milk and other liquids, you can enter the "Show Time", enjoy the coffee with milk! It is worth noting that when shooting, you can use more rotary "wind" method, so that in addition to the effect of milk splashing, there will be more exaggerated milk streamline, so that the picture has more tension.

After shooting, you can select a few lines that are satisfactory, and synthesize them into a photo later. If necessary, you can adjust the tone and contrast to become your own photo style.
