Foreign media: coffee contains antioxidants to reduce the risk of breast cancer
Chinanews.com, July 30 / PRNewswire-Asianet /-- according to Qatari media reports on July 29, Swedish researchers recently concluded that eating five or more cups of coffee a day may prevent women from developing breast cancer, while eating more than one cup of tea a day increases the risk of breast cancer.
For a long time, high consumption of coffee has been thought to affect health and even cause disease, but more and more studies have shown that some ingredients in coffee have anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer effects. By contrast, tea, traditionally thought to be good for health, can lead to cancer.
The researchers came to this conclusion by analyzing 40,000 women who ate a lot of coffee and tea every day, according to a report in the Daily Mail on Tuesday.
Compared with women who ate only one or two cups of coffee a day, eating five or more cups of coffee a day reduced the risk of breast cancer by 19 percent, the researchers said.
The researchers also found that women who consumed more than one cup of tea a day had a 19 percent higher risk of breast cancer than those who did not drink tea.
The researchers say that although the principle of the findings is not fully understood, they have been able to conclude that coffee has health benefits and that coffee contains some antioxidants. it is these antioxidants that protect cells from cancer. (Su Chang)
