Chen Jiahua also introduced that many people used to grow tea, but the income of tea could not catch up with that of coffee, and now almost no one in their village grows tea. "when growing tea, we only pick tea when it rains, and we are very tired, while coffee is picked from October to mid-February of the following year. After picking, it is shelled, fermented, washed, dried, milled and graded and sold."

Yang Weidong, vice mayor of Pu'er City, said that since the early 1990s, the Pu'er municipal party committee and government have always regarded the development of coffee as a dominant backbone industry for readjusting the industrial structure and increasing farmers' income. Coffee is grown in 54 townships (towns) in 9 counties and 1 district of Pu'er City. Coffee industry has become a new characteristic industry with financial growth, enterprise efficiency and farmers' income increase in Pu'er city. The signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the Pu'er municipal government and Nestle marks a new stage in the cooperation between the Pu'er coffee industry and the world's top 500 enterprises Nestle.

According to the person in charge of Pu'er Coffee Industry Federation, Pu'er City is the most suitable for growing coffee between 800m and 1600 meters above sea level. According to incomplete statistics, at present, the coffee planting area of Pu'er has increased to 425000 mu, and the number of farmers has reached more than 100000. "Last year, the output of commercial coffee rice reached 23400 tons, of which Nestl é acquired about 8000 tons."

The relevant person in charge of Nestl é (China) Co., Ltd. told reporters that in Yunnan, most of their small seed coffee raw materials come from Pu'er.
