Specific:

Primeval forest coffee

This category belongs to wild coffee, mostly distributed in the alpine rain forests of southwest and southeast Ethiopia. The characteristics of this type of coffee are:

-Coffee vegetation is covered by a wide variety of coffee plants, with more than 700 species, including tall trees, shrubs and dwarf trees

The diversity of coffee gene combinations makes coffee produce more wild varieties under natural selection.

-the natural conditions of survival of the fittest make coffee production relatively low.

The reproduction of coffee mainly depends on mammals, birds and insects in the ecosystem.

Semi-virgin forest coffee

This type of coffee is believed to have evolved from primeval forests and is mainly distributed in the southwest.

-Coffee forests are close to roads and farmers' villages, or there are some human activities in the forest

This kind of coffee generally uses traditional human farming methods, such as weeding and sowing.

Manor coffee

This type of coffee cultivation generally exists on its own farms and monasteries (monasteries does not know if it is translated in this way).

-in this system, the breeding techniques of local coffee varieties will be adopted.

-it will also be mixed with other agricultural products produced once a year or more.

-because of the use of weeding and organic fertilizer, this kind of planting system is relatively good.

The output of this system is much higher than that of the above two.

Enterprise coffee planting

Owned by the state or large private farms.

-Conservation techniques, organic fertilizers, weeding, pest management, coffee tree size and planting density, high-yielding and pest-resistant tree species will be applied.

In summary, all the above four planting systems are based on the natural ecological environment, and there is no other unnatural artificial intervention. Under the principle of strict gene protection, coffee retains its most primitive agro-ecological characteristics. It can be said that the coffee produced in Ethiopia is essentially different from the products of other coffee-growing countries, which is the reason why Ethiopian coffee has a high reputation in the world.
