Kopi Luwak, made in Indonesia, is one of the most expensive coffee in the world. It costs hundreds of dollars per pound. It is extracted from the feces of civets and processed. The civet eats the ripe coffee fruit. After it is excreted through the digestive system, the coffee is fermented by the stomach, giving the coffee a different taste. It is favored by many coffee fans.

Kopi Luwak, a coffee made from beans excreted by civets, is the most expensive in the world, costing hundreds of dollars a pound.

This kind of coffee originated in Indonesia. In the early 18th century, the Dutch established coffee plantations in the Indonesian colonies of Sumatra and Java, and banned locals from picking and eating their own coffee fruits. Indonesian locals inadvertently found that civets love to eat these coffee fruits and will drain the beans intact when they poop.

The Origin of Kopi Luwak

On the Indonesian island of Sumatra, there are dense coffee trees. For hundreds of years, the residents of the island have made a living by collecting coffee beans.

But in recent years, whenever the coffee is about to ripen, the troubles of the islanders also come. This is because a kind of animal called palm cat began to live and breed on the island. Palm cats like to eat coffee fruits, and they are better at climbing trees than humans, often before people start picking, the most ripe and reddest coffee fruits have become a good meal for these palm cats.

Therefore, people feel very upset, and every time the coffee is ripe, they begin to drive away palm cats.

Until one day, a person suddenly found that there were always a lot of undigested coffee beans in the droppings of those palm cats who stepped on their feet. It turns out that palm cats only like to eat sweet coffee fruit, but the coffee beans in the fruit are excreted because they are indigestible. So the man collected and sold the coffee beans excreted by the palm cat to the vendor.

Unexpectedly, these coffee beans processed by palm cats have transformed the originally ordinary coffee beans into a unique artifact in the world. This is the origin of Kopi Luwak.

Brewing steps of Kopi Luwak:

1: warm the coffee cup first.

2: put the filter cup on the glass pot and pour the hot water into the hand flushing pot to cool it slowly. If you have a thermometer, you can insert the thermometer into the pot to measure the temperature about 85-95 degrees when you are about to start cooking.

3Rather: pour the filter paper onto the filter cup with hot water and place it on the filter cup and glass pot, then pour out the water.

4: pour the coffee powder (about 12 grams per cup) into the filter cup, pick up the filter cup and pat the side with your hand to make the coffee powder surface slightly flat.

5: pour the kettle by hand from the center of the filter cup to the vicinity of the filter cup (do not rush to the nearest coffee powder), then go out and soak the coffee powder for about 20-30 seconds, repeatedly until the coffee in the lower glass pot reaches a cup.

When the temperature is slightly lower, it is recommended to add sugar and milk first, taste it directly, and slowly experience the magical changes in the aroma of coffee. Although Kopi Luwak sounds disgusting, after you have tasted it, you will certainly want to taste it again.
