In fact, there are two main coffee growing areas in China: Yunnan and Hainan. As Hainan Province is a coastal plain, the altitude is less than 800 meters, and the summer is too hot, the perennial temperature is too high, it is not suitable to grow Arabica coffee, mainly growing Robusta varieties.

The history of coffee consumption in China can only be traced back to the late Qing Dynasty, while China, a country with developed tea industry, has a history of growing coffee for only more than 100 years. In the late Qing Dynasty, foreign imperialist invaders invaded China and sent missionaries to take the lead in order to assimilate the local residents.
Father Tian Deneng, a French missionary, was asked to build a church and preach in the village of Jugula in Binchuan, Yunnan Province. Because Father Tian Deneng loved coffee, he brought a coffee sapling and planted it next to the church, so the coffee took root here.
It was not until the 1950s that Yunnan Province began to grow coffee on a large scale. Friends may be curious, at that time, not to mention heard that even the people who drink and the amount of consumption are very small, why large-scale planting? In fact, at that time, the large-scale cultivation of coffee in Yunnan was not for the domestic market, but mainly for foreign markets, especially the Soviet Union. At that time, Yunnan coffee beans even received a lot of praise in the world market, and even was considered to be the top grade of coffee.
The second wave of development of Yunnan coffee in China is that after the reform and opening up, many international coffee brands have entered the Chinese market, among which Nestl é has chosen to buy local coffee beans in Yunnan Province. The early Yunnan coffee was a tin card variety, but Nestl é, as a big instant coffee maker, promoted the local Katim variety with strong resistance to leaf rust but less elegant flavor in order to obtain more raw materials. Yunnan small grain coffee has been changed from the oldest Arabica variety to Katim, which has the Robusta gene. Since then, Katim has gradually become the main local coffee variety in Yunnan, accounting for about 90% of Yunnan coffee bean production.
In the 21 century, the third wave of fine coffee brought the concept of fine coffee to China, and Yunnan also began the work of seed selection and cultivation. In 2012, Nestl é stopped purchasing Yunnan coffee beans on a large scale, forcing Yunnan farmers to embark on the development of boutique coffee.
In recent years, the state's strong support for Yunnan coffee, coupled with some film and television works such as "one Point to Home" and "Infinite Road" are widely advertised for Yunnan coffee, the popularity of Yunnan coffee continues to rise.

In 2021, Qianjie Coffee also experienced the joy of a bumper harvest on a coffee farm in Yunnan. Since the cultivation of iron pickup coffee does not produce much until the fourth or fifth year, the output in the last season was less, just over 100 kilograms.
