The Legend of Geisha

-

Listening to the legend of Geisha, one can't help but think of such a passage_

"I have only one life and cannot give generously to someone I do not love."

Perhaps it is because of this obsession that Geisha is willing to wait quietly until its Mr. Right appears.

In 1936, in Abyssinia (formerly Ethiopia), British consul Colonel Richard Whalley collected a 10-pound coffee sample from Mount Geisha in order to count Ethiopia's wild coffee varieties. This is probably the earliest Geisha variety.

In the 1960s, Geisha, a long-time wanderer in Tanzania and Costa Rica, finally arrived at Emerald Manor in Panama.

Nearly half a century later, Geisha won the first prize in the 2005, 2006 and 2007 Panama National Bean Cup competitions, beating the usual winners of coffee, such as bourbon, kadura, kaduai and tibica.

In 2007, Geisha won the International Famous Bean Cup competition sponsored by the American Fine Coffee Association (SCAA), and the bidding price was $130 per pound, setting a record for the highest price of competitive beans ever.

Since her debut, Geisha has participated in various international coffee competitions and won a total of twelve championships. This wild variety, native to Ethiopia, swept through the coffee world with a hurricane, making the king and queen of the coffee kingdom, Jamaica Blue Mountain and Hawaii Kena, retreat.
