Nestle AAA Sustainable Volume Plan
Because this plan represents human conscience and reflection, so that bloggers are so moved! For a long time, there has been a vicious circle of continuous exploitation and ecological damage to the environment in the coffee industry. The coffee we drink every day can be said to be mixed with the blood and tears of coffee farmers and the greed of unscrupulous businessmen.
The so-called AAA sustainable capacity plan is that Nestl é, as early as 2003, aims to improve the lives of farmers and their communities, while ensuring the sustainable supply of high-quality raw materials in the future, and announced cooperation with the non-governmental organization Rainforest Alliance to contribute to rainforest protection and agricultural economy. Nespresso and its major suppliers work closely with farmers participating in the AAA program to ensure the exact implementation of farm codes to produce quality coffee beans and to promote economic development and environmental protection. Farmers who participate in the program can not only get higher benefits, but also establish a long-term cooperative relationship with Nespresso.
Nestl é and the Rainforest Alliance work together to educate conscientious soybean farmers, improve their production methods and environment, and buy carefully cultivated coffee beans from them at a price 30% to 40% higher than the market price, not only in terms of the quantity of coffee beans, but also in the protection of the ecological environment and the improvement of the livelihood of soybean farmers. This is a mutually beneficial, win-win and sustainable program. After nearly seven years, Nestl é has handed over one of the masterpieces of beautiful transcripts.
Nestl é made an ambition in 2009 that 80% of its coffee would be certified by the Rainforest Alliance by 2013, and it has reached 60% by 2010. I sincerely hope Nestl é will fulfill its promise!
Although Nestl é is not alone in doing this, illy started as early as the 1990s (please refer to the blog "Passion For Excellence"), but it is never too late to do good deeds. I hope that more and more companies will pay attention to "corporate social responsibility (CSR)". Human nature is getting brighter and brighter!
