Rwanda is a fast-growing producer of fine coffee in East Africa, and its fine coffee quality is improving very quickly. This batch of coffee beans is selected from the Mushonyi Lut taunt Rutsiro region, located north of Nyamasheke, on the shores of Lake Kiev.

The unique geographical conditions of high altitude and fertile volcanic soil, coupled with excellent climate, created a high-quality coffee. The Musioi plant has only 832 members, and each small farmer grows about 253 coffee trees, mainly grown on the mountains at an altitude of 1800 meters. Although small in size, the Musioi plant plays an important role in the local area. The geographical environment around the Musioi plant is very suitable for growing coffee trees. The high altitude, fertile volcanic soil and excellent climate are all important factors for its production of high quality coffee. It has won the Cup of Excellence (CoE) in 2010 and 2011 respectively.

It is worth mentioning that the Muxiu Yi processing plant has been certified by foreign organic natural farming methods. In order to produce coffee beans with good quality and high yield, the processing plant encourages coffee farmers in various ways, trains farmers to understand soil invasion control measures, pest and disease prevention measures, and enables coffee farmers to understand the application of fertilizers and pesticides as well as their impact on coffee farming, environmental protection measures and health safety. The aim here is to give coffee farmers a clear understanding of the sustainability of coffee farming systems. Rwanda has the highest population density of any country in Africa. Since the first coffee crop was exported in 1917, there are now nearly 450,000 coffee farmers in this tiny East African country. Each coffee farmer cares for an average of 150- 300 coffee trees, and the cultivated area is small, even less than 1 hectare. Internationally, they are classified as micro-farmers. At the top are small farmers, who cannot afford a processing plant themselves, so coffee farmers in Rwanda hand over their cherries to the central coffee washing plant in their region for processing immediately after harvesting.

This batch of coffee beans was mainly processed by Mashesha CWS and Mushonyi CWS located in Cyangugu City, Western Province of Rwanda.
