Arabica coffee variety: Tabi Tabby

Released in 2002 by the Columbia Coffee Institute (CENICAFE), it is the result of a study in pursuit of disease resistance and high quality flavor.

Tabi cultivar comes from the hybridization of Typica, Bourbon and Timor variants. The most outstanding advantage is strong resistance to leaf rust while retaining the excellent flavor of Typica and Bourbon parent plants.

In addition, Tabi Cultivar is similar to Bourbon and Typica in appearance, with tall plants and long branches, but slightly larger fruits and seeds. Tabi can be closely planted and can grow 3000 plants per hectare. In addition, it is well adapted to grow at high altitude. (1 ha = 10000 sq m)

The word Tabi comes from the dialect of the Colombian indigenous tribe Guambiano, which means "good".
