In addition to the differences in filter paper, even the material of the filter cup of hand-brewed coffee is different. Generally speaking, apart from the factory label, the materials seen on the market are plastic, ceramics, stainless steel, as well as metal filter cups-gold filters that do not need filter paper. There is even a manufacturer developed a filter similar to activated carbon filter material, but the bottom filter cup is also ceramic magnetic, so it should also be regarded as ceramic magnetic filter cup. Also, recently found a new round filter cup, even the filter paper is conical, very special! This kind of filter cup is made of both ceramic and plastic, but what I buy is plastic. I have always heard that the ceramic filter cup is better, especially its heat preservation function, which can keep the coffee liquid at a higher temperature, so although the ceramic filter cup is several times more expensive than plastic products, it is worth it! However, according to my personal habits, I still think that plastic products are more in line with my needs. But I think in any case, the impact of these two materials against coffee brewing is the key point. Therefore, I hope to find out the difference between these two main filter cups in the market through some simple methods, rather than just following others, but it is not very clear what the facts are. In addition, in order to understand the difference between the new round filter cup and the traditional filter cup, especially added it, but this time the use of plastic products.

First of all, introduce the filter cup and related materials used in this competition: K brand ceramic 3-hole filter cup, T brand plastic 3-hole filter cup, H brand round filter cup. Except for the round filter cup with special filter paper, the other two kinds of P brand unbleached filter paper are used. The coffee beans used are Antigua and Eagle bean grinders with a grinding degree of 3, and by the way, the room temperature is about 23 degrees. Then, after boiling the water, take 360 kilos of hot water, pour it into the hand flushing pot to take the water temperature, and begin to cook, and measure the temperature of the coffee liquid immediately after the hot water is dripped. The relationship between the results and time is as follows:

Plastic filter cup 92.9 ℃→ 73.8 ℃ reduced 19.1 ℃ time 2: 53 "

Ceramic filter cup 94.5 ℃→ 74.6 ℃ reduced 19.9 ℃ time 2: 07 "

Circular filter cup 94.5 ℃→ 75.3 ℃ reduced 19.2 ℃ time 2: 30 "

From the result data, it can be found that the fact is not as legendary: ceramic filter cup has a better heat preservation effect! On the contrary, the coffee liquid brewed with ceramic filter cup has the lowest temperature. In fact, it is not surprising to get such a result, the reason is very simple. First of all, plastic is not a good conductor of heat, and its quality is much lower than that of ceramic filter cup, so in the process of brewing, the amount of heat that can be absorbed from hot water is naturally limited. Although the ceramic filter cup is not a good conductor of heat, its quality is much higher than that of the plastic filter cup, so in the process of brewing, it absorbs more heat from hot water than the plastic filter cup. As a result, it is conceivable that the temperature of the final coffee liquid will be lower. But look at the cooking time, the use of ceramic filter cup time is the shortest, why is this? In fact, in the process, I also noticed such a problem, that is, in the cooking process, after the filter paper was wetted by water, the whole filter paper was almost close to the wall of the ceramic filter cup. Although the ceramic filter cup has the same raised grooves as the inside wall of the plastic filter cup, the grooves on the ceramic filter cup wall are much smoother than the other two plastic filter cups, causing the filter paper to fit almost with the whole wall after wetting. In the process of brewing and cooking, hot water is easy to pass through coffee powder because of adsorption, that is, it flows down quickly along the wall, so that the speed of dripping is obviously faster. On the other hand, when I tried it, I obviously felt that the coffee liquid made by using the ceramic filter cup tasted lighter, which made me think of some coffee weirdo who insisted on using the ceramic filter cup. but the method is to first pour the water into a container containing coffee powder, stir it to a certain extent, and then filter the coffee liquid containing coffee grounds into a ceramic filter cup with filter paper. In this way, the coffee liquid will not be lighter.

Summing up the above process, we can know that the fact that the traditional so-called ceramic filter cup has a better heat preservation effect is not entirely correct, but it should be said that the coffee liquid made by the ceramic filter cup after the cup is fully warm, the temperature should be higher than that made by ordinary plastic filter cups, and this effect should be more obvious in winter, and it is easier to highlight its efficacy and particularity, right? However, from another point of view, if you use a plastic filter cup, but the coffee liquid is poured into a container with an adequate warm cup to drink, will it also make the final coffee liquid have a higher temperature? Of course, if ceramic filter cups also use such conditions, the temperature of the final coffee liquid should still be higher than that of plastic products, right? However, the ceramic filter cup to warm the cup, to overcome or solve one of the biggest problems is how to effectively warm the cup. Drinking porcelain cup, you can pour an appropriate amount of hot water to achieve the purpose of warming the cup. However, if the filter cup, the hot water will leak, the effect is limited, if you soak the whole in the hot water, then you have to prepare a container to soak the filter cup, which is actually a troublesome thing, in addition, you have to take the trouble to get the filter cup out of the hot water. So is it really better to use ceramic filter cups? If you think about it, it may turn out to be wise to see people, right? But how high is the temperature required for coffee supply? Also, how long and how high will it take to maintain the temperature? And how soon should the coffee be finished? I think these questions are all closely related and very important. Can anyone help me answer them one by one and give me a satisfactory answer?
